As the new millenium loomed I decided now was the time to phase out my graphic arts committments and devote time to fulfillling a long held promise to myself to express that personal creativity that could only be achieved, for me, through painting. Much of what I wanted to say, and I do believe artists need something to say, became like visual commentaries on the spread of material affluence from major urban centres to rural and coastal environments and the impact this is having on the landscape. Thoughts on social/political issues also found their way onto canvas.
